Senior Housing Issues

luv
Many adults decide to stay in their homes well past retirement but when they do decide to move into a senior living facility there are some issues to take into consideration.

Type of Care

Senior housing ranges in terms of the level of care given or needed. There are homes for seniors that range from no care needed to hands on nursing facilities. Before you make the move into senior housing you’ll need to figure out what level of care you think you’ll need.

Community Services and Activities

Some senior facilities pack each day full of activities for their residents, others offer just a few guided activities and are more open to independent actions. Assess your desired activity level and find a living arrangement that will help you achieve your goals.

Location

The biggie when looking for any real estate is the location. With senior housing you may want to be closer to town so you can get around on public transportation or you may want to change cities or states to be closer to family or you might want to find a senior living facility that is centered around some of your favorite activities like golf, tennis, flying etc.

Price

And of course, cost plays into any senior living facility as it does with any housing arrangement. Stay within your budget and if you do require expensive care that may deplete your savings you need to look at what your insurance will cover and what the facility’s policy is.
